JEFFERSON, WI (Saturday, August 24, 2013) Shaun Scheel of Lake Mills survived a major melee at the midway point of the Papa Murphy’s Pizza 50 lap Late Model main event to pick up his first feature win of the season. The win made Scheel the tenth Late Model pilot to taste victory in 2013.

John Ovadal Jr and Bruce Lee paced the field to green with Lee taking the initial lead on lap one. Ovadal tried to fight back on the low side, but Lee held him off to maintain control of the top spot. After the first of four cautions, the leaders remained single file with defending champ, Casey Johnson quickly moving towards the front. But Johnson found the turn four wall, cutting a tire and bringing out the second caution on lap 14. As racing resumed, Ty James slipped by Ovadal to claim second with Trent Erdman in his tracks for third. Contact between James and Erdman on lap 23 ended with both cars into the turn three wall, collecting several competitors in the process. Included in the wreckage was point leader Dale Nottestad as well as several others who were forced to the pit area for repairs. Nottestad returned track side before the green flew again allowing him to remain on the lead lap. Lee restarted on the point, this time with Scheel in his rear view mirror with Ryan Goldade running third. On lap 25, Scheel got a good run on the low side of Lee as they raced out of turn two. Scheel cleared for the top spot a lap later as the top two began to separate themselves from the pack. Zack Riddle made his way to third with Chris Quam in tow and Nottestad already back up into the top five. On lap 36, Riddle drifted high in turn four allowing Quam and Nottestad to slip past for third and fourth respectively. Nottestad spent the remaining laps searching for a way around Quam while Scheel continued to stretch his advantage. A caution on lap 48 set up a green/white/checkered finish, but Scheel stayed strong out front to see the checkers first for the win. Lee finished second followed by Quam, Nottestad and Riddle.

JEFFERSON, WI (Saturday, August 17, 2013) Helenville’s Brandon Pendleton methodically worked past Rio’s Steve Dobbratz and stayed out front to get the win on Cost Cutters Back to School Night at Jefferson Speedway. The victory marked Pendleton’s second feature win of the 2013 season.

Dobbratz and Bruce Lee brought the field to green with Dobbratz taking command of the early lead on lap one. Pendleton followed into second with Dylan Schuyler taking over third. Pendleton began to pressure Dobbratz before a caution on lap six slowed his efforts. As racing resumed, Pendleton got back to work on the leader as he searched for a way past. On lap 15, Pendleton got a good run on the low side of Dobbratz as they raced out of turn two. Pendleton drew even on lap 17 as they waged war for the top spot. On lap 22, Pendleton cleared for the lead with Dobbratz now applying the pressure to the new leader. The top two began to break away from the pack while Tory Bagley challenged Schuyler for third. Bagley and Schuyler continued to battle for third while Pendleton took control out front. The leaders maneuvered through lapped traffic with Pendleton showing the way and Dobbratz trying to stay close. But Pendleton had the field covered over the final circuits as he cruised to the checkers for the win. Dobbratz came home second followed by Trent Erdman, Bagley and Stephen Scheel.

JEFFERSON, WI (Saturday, August 10, 2013) Kyle Smith of Lake Mills captured his first career Late Model feature victory by hanging on after a late restart in the King Kollision 50 lap main event. While Smith was grabbing the win, Dale Nottestad of Cambridge overtook Zack Riddle in the standings with only four weeks remaining until we crown a champion.

Bruce Lee and Smith paced the field to green as they battled side by side. The duo fought for the top spot until Smith grabbed control on lap five. Dylan Schuyler moved past Lee for second as the top two began to separate themselves from the pack. As the leaders pulled away, Trent Erdman and Dale Nottestad made their way into third and fourth respectively by lap 19. Nottestad began to apply heavy pressure on the low side of Erdman as they battled door to door with Kyle Jarlsberg watching from fifth. Lap after lap, Nottestad tried to clear Erdman. Finally, Nottestad made the pass for third on lap 34 with Jarlsberg in his tracks. Jarlsberg slipped by Nottestad just before the caution waved on lap 42, closing up the field for the final eight circuits. As racing resumed, Nottestad returned the favor on Jarlsberg, getting by for third and pulling alongside Schuyler. Nottestad cleared for second behind Smith with two laps to go. Nottestad tried to get a run on the low side of Smith as they raced down the backstretch one final time. But Smith held off his advances to cross under the checkers first for the win. Nottestad settled for second followed by Jarlsberg in third. Schuyler finished fourth with Casey Johnson rounding out the top five.
