2010 Championships Underway

JEFFERSON, WI (Saturday, September 17, 2010) Day one of the 30th annual Wisconsin State Championships got underway on Friday night with 164 race teams and drivers plugging up the pit area. It was Rio’s Steve Dobbratz setting the pace in Late Model qualifying as the top 14 drivers locked themselves in to the twin 75 lap features seperated by only 0.157 seconds. Dale Nottestad of Cambridge flexed his muscle on day one as he laid claim to the 35 lap Late Model preview feature.

Dan Lensing and Bruce Lee claimed their spots in the twin 75’s after winning their respective qualifying races.

The final event of the evening was the Race of Champions which shined a spotlight on former and current champions competing in this year’s festivities. Davey Pennel of Sparta came home with the victory after holding off a hard charging Doug Hahn in the closing laps.

All of these drivers, as well as competitors in all six divisions, hit the track on Saturday night to determine who will be crowned 2010 Wisconsin State Champion. Gates open at 3pm with the first green flag flying at 6:30. Last chance races followed by all the feature events are on the schedule which is highlighted by twin 75 lap Late Model main events.
