Jefferson Speedway, a track traditionally known for huge events, put drivers and crews to the test Saturday night. The prestigious United Electric 75 lap Late Model Feature fit the narrative. Bumpers were used, fenders got crinkled, doors were battered, and egos got bruised. The gloves were off for the added laps and payout. Dylan Schuyler jumped out to the early lead, while Michael Grueneberg and Jason Erickson maneuvered their way towards the front. Schuyler would have benefited from a normal 50 lap feature. Schuyler led until Grueneberg muscled his way t the lead on lap 60. Erickson would work his way past Schuyler five laps later. The front runners had to navigate heavy lapped traffic. Erickson tried to run down Grueneberg, but a slip off of turn two ended Erickson’s chances. Grueneberg sailed to victory and collected the big payday. Erickson settled for second, and Schuyler finished a strong third. Shaun Scheel returned to finish fourth. Current point leader, Carson Phillips brought home fifth. Erickson set fast time in qualifying. Brody Beyer, Chris Flairty, and Steven Sauer won the heats. Jerry Eckhardt won the Last Chance Race at the young age of 83. This makes “Wisconsin’s Oldest Teenager” the oldest driver to win a race at Jefferson Speedway.
