Rain shortens night at Jefferson Speedway!!

By Jeanne & Larry Starr

August 12, 2000; Jefferson, WI. -A large crowd and an equally large car count were on hand for the Watertown Bowl 50 at Jefferson Speedway.

Everything looked good for a great night of racing. Everything, that is, except the storm clouds coming from the West. Qualifying and heat races were run, up through the 2nd, of 4, Late Model heat races. At nearly 9:00 the rain started and there was no letup. The remainder of the racing program, for Watertown Bowl, will run next week, Saturday, August 19.

Next week Jefferson Speedway will begin its race program with the remainder of the Watertown Bowl event; two late model heat races, Last Chance races, the Watertown Bowl 50 and feature races in all divisions. Following this is the Generac Portable Products 50’ racing program, with heat races, Last Chance races and a 50 lap Late Model feature as well as another round of feature races in all divisions. Rounding out the night’s racing program is the Demo Derby.

The entire schedule, for August 19, has been moved up 1/2 hour to make time for this full night of racing. Gates open at 3:30, qualifying at 5:00 and racing at 7:00 sharp.

Note that there are no “rain checks” for the August 12 racing program, since the entire program will be completed on August 19 and fans will have the opportunity to see all of the scheduled racing events for both August 12 and 19th.

The “Voss Sentry Foods/WFAW Winner’s Circle Challenge” has been moved to August 26 and will run in conjunction with the “UAW Local 95 – “50” and the Roll Over Contest Finale.
