Chesmore, Ramge, Allman, Carson and Selsing Victorious at Jefferson Speedway Mid-Season Championships!

June 26, 2004; Jefferson, Wis. – Dan Chesmore of Janesville parlayed an 11th place start into a feature win, in the “Smith Motors 60” Mid-Season Championship feature. Scott “Chico” Riedner took the lead at the green flag, guiding the way for 54 laps, while Chesmore wound his way through the field. Chad Stevens closed with Riedner by lap 28, but could not find his way past.

Chesmore made his way to the third spot on lap 36 closing with the leaders by lap 40. Chesmore made his way to the outside of Stevens on lap 46 closing with Riedner. The 3 way battle, for the lead, was interrupted by a caution flag, on lap 50, for a spin in turn 4. On the restart Riedner pulled ahead, only to see a mirror full of Chesmore. Moving to the inside, Chesmore finally pulled ahead on lap 55, followed by Stevens. At the stripe it was Chesmore for the win, followed by Riedner, Roger Behlke and Jason Thoma.

In International action Steve Allman of Oconomowoc claimed the top spot, in the 20 lap feature. Starting inside row 4, Allman started to the front, as Tory Adams jumped to the early lead. Adams guided the field for 5 laps, before being overtaken by Allman, on the sixth circuit. Allman was first, at the stripe, followed by Scotty Hoeft, Paul Kisow, Tim Seitz and Adams.

In Sportsman action Noel Ramge of Hellenville came from a 14th place start to notch a win, in the 35 lap main event. Cliff Rucks took the lead, at the green flag, guiding the way for 16 laps, before surrendering the point to Mark English. As English took the lead, Ramge was up to the 5th spot, battling his way through traffic. Making his way to 3rd by lap 19, Ramge inherited 2nd when Ken Au pulled off with a flat tire. Ramge moved to the inside of English, on lap 21, making his bid for the lead. Caution came on lap 26, for a lost wheel, placing Ramge in 2nd for the restart. At the final green Ramge moved to the inside, making the winning pass on lap 28. Ramge was first at the checkers, followed by Luke Padfield, English, Ryan Goldade and Mark Deporter.

Bret Carson of Fort Atkinson claimed top honors in the 25 lap Hobby Stock feature. Starting third, in the field, Carson spent 3 laps taking the lead from Russ Nicholson. Carson guided the field from lap 4 to the checkered flag. By lap 20 Terry Wangsness had made his way to 2nd, launching a bid for the lead. Carson held off Wangsness, by about 6 inches at the line, to claim the win. Rounding out the top 5 were Nicholson, Dennis Smith and Larry Moen.

In Bandit action, Bobby Selsing of Fort Atkinson, claimed his first, career, feature win, in the 23 lap main event. Starting eleventh, Selsing avoided the melee that occurred when the early leader, Beth Goodwin, spun at the front of the field on the second lap. Finding himself 3rd for the restart Selsing, set his sights on the front, as led the field back to green. Brandon Kozak moved under Stark for the lead, on lap 3, with Selsing close behind for 2nd. Selsing surrendered the 2nd spot, to Troy Yohn on lap 6, and Yohn made his way to the point on lap 12. Selsing moved under Yohn, to make the winning pass, on lap 13. At the stripe it was Selsing for the win, followed by Yohn, Dan Gosda, Renee Collins and Rory Padfield.
Next week at Jefferson Speedway, Kearns Motor Car Company presents the Independence Day Special with “Stock Car Rides for Kids,” a 50 lap Late Model feature, and a Fireworks Spectacular by Thundercat.

To allow time for the “Stock Car Rides for Kids” the gates will open at 1:00PM, qualifying will begin at 3:30PM. Kids’ rides will be between 5:30 and 6:30PM and racing will start at 7:00.

Jefferson Speedway is half way between Cambridge and Jefferson Wisconsin, on Highway 18.
