Dennis Prunty Takes Victory at Round Two of the 45th Wisconsin State Championships AT JEFFERSON SPEEDWAY

602 Late Models

The 45th Annual Wisconsin State Championships Round Two saw 140 cars pack the Jefferson Speedway pit area. Glassworks of Wisconsin, Newville Auto Salvage, and Wolff Pack Apparel and Promotions sponsored the grueling two day event. Drivers and teams had to race a feature on Friday and two more features on Saturday in their quest to be crowned Wisconsin State Champion.

The 602 Late Models made their first appearance at The 45th Annual Wisconsin State Championships. Evan Hassler made his first career start in a 602 Late Model a memorable one. He would go on to win the Friday feature for the 602’s, holding off a hard charging Dennis Prunty. Prunty would flex his muscle in the second feature and cruise to the checkers. Nick Schneider would keep his car underneath him and drive to victory in the third feature. The overall championship was earned by Dennis Prunty, followed by Hassler, Pete Moore, Waylon Robinson, and Jon Reynolds Jr.

Internationals

The International Division had no shortage of excitement. Evan Leahy would come home victorious in the Friday portion of the Wisconsin State Championships. Leahy filled in for Blake Nottestad who was sidelined with a knee injury. Leahy had to fend off Karter Stark who was the weekend’s fast qualifier. Stark would come back strong and win the first feature on Saturday. The Stark and Leahy show continued in the International Division finale as the two hot shoes had to battle through traffic. Leahy was able to get out front first and hold off a hard charging Stark. Leahy won the Wisconsin State Championships by just one position over Stark. Merek Pankow’s consistent weekend landed him third for the weekend. Mark English and Jason Uttech were fourth and fifth.
