Nottestad, Nottestad, Stough, Hartwig and Nelson Notch Winner’s Circle Challenge Victories at Jefferson Speedway!

August 16, 2003; Jefferson, Wis. – Scott Nottestad of Stoughton won the, 30 lap, “WFAW AN-940/Voss Sentry Foods — Winner’s Circle Challenge” in the late model division. A lucky draw placed Nottestad at the pole, for the start, ahead of a field of Feature winners. A short battle with Scott Patrick, earned Nottestad the point, as he lead the way to the checkered flag.
John Ovadal Jr. of Watertown claimed top honors in the 35 lap Late Model feature. Starting from the outside of row 2, Ovadal watched Jasper Gronert claim the early lead. Ovadal claimed 3rd by lap 4, motoring under Ken Olson for 2nd, on lap 6. Ovadal powered past Gronert, for the lead, on lap 7 claiming the point, and guiding the field t the checkered flag. At the stripe it was Ovadal for the win, followed by Scott Nottestad, Gronert, Nick Wendt and Ron Bishofberger.
Brent Nottestad of Cambridge won the, 15 lap, “WFAW AN-940/Voss Sentry Foods — Winner’s Circle Challenge” in the International division.
Coming off his “Winner’s Circle Challenge” victory, Brent Nottestad claimed top honors in the International main event. Starting from the outside of row 4, Nottestad headed toward the point, as Jim Pankow claimed the early lead. Nottestad made his way to 2nd, before the first caution, on lap 8, and was still 2nd, when the final caution came, on lap 10, for a blown engine. Closing with Pankow, on the restart, Nottestad claimed the point by lap 12, guiding the field to the checkers. At the stripe it was Nottestad for the win, followed by Aaron Rude, Pankow, Chris Quam and Mike Drays.
Bobby Stough Jr. of Waunakee took the top prize in the, 20 lap, “WFAW AN-940/Voss Sentry Foods — Winner’s Circle Challenge” in the Sportsman Division.
Randy Padfield, of Stoughton, guided the field, from the start to the checkered flag, in the Sportsman Division feature. Starting from the pole, Padfield grabbed the early lead and never looked back. At the stripe it was Padfield for the win, followed by Scott “Chico” Riedner, Tod Goldade, Trent Erdman and Bret Schmidt.
Jeramy Hartwig of Cottage Grove won the, 15 lap, “WFAW AN-940/Voss Sentry Foods — Winner’s Circle Challenge” in the Hobby Stock division.
In Hobby Stock feature action it was Eric Gardner claiming victory, in the 20 lap main event. Starting from the outside front row, Gardner claimed the early lead, guiding the filed to the finish. Gardner’s trek to the checkers was interrupted by 2 caution flags, on laps 2 and 14. At the finish, it was Gardner for the win followed by Terry Wangsness, Ken Au, Rick Kehoe and Jeramy Hartwig.
Chris Nelson of Cottage Grove won the 12 lap, “WFAW AN-940/Voss Sentry Foods — Winner’s Circle Challenge.”
In Bandit feature action it was Peter Shelley of Edgerton claiming the victory. Starting from the inside of row 4, Shelley headed to the front, as Brandon Kozak jumped to the early lead. Kozak led the way for 9 laps, before losing the point to Shelley. At the finish it was Shelley for the win followed by Tim Seitz, Alan Petrie, Kozak and Brian Paulson.
Next week at Jefferson Speedway it’s the “UAW Local 95 – 50” with a 50 lap Late Model feature and a full racing program in all divisions, including the Bandits. Members of UAW Local 95 receive discount admission, by presenting their Union cards and, for this event, members of Local 538 are considered “honorary” members of Local 95.
Gates open at 3:00pm, qualifying at 4:30pm and racing at 7:00pm sharp.
Jefferson Speedway is half way between Cambridge and Jefferson Wisconsin, on highway 18.
